Targets & Metrics

Track performance against plan. Define what you measure with Metrics, then set the numbers you aim for with Targets.

Note

Targets and Metrics are part of the paid Planning plan. See Plans & limits.

Metrics vs Targets

Metrics and Targets work as a pair. One says what you measure, the other says what good looks like.

Metrics vs Targets
ConceptWhat it isExample
MetricWhat you measure. Has a name, a type, and an optional description.Revenue, Headcount, Gross Margin
TargetThe number you aim for on a metric, tied to a Scenario.Q3 Revenue Budget = $4.2M

A single metric can carry several targets, for example one per scenario (Budget vs Forecast). Because targets are tied to Scenarios, the targets shown for a metric reflect the currently active scenario for each fiscal period.

Where to find them

Warning

In the main navigation, the Targets item opens the Metrics list. You start from a metric and drill into its targets. There is no standalone “Targets” page. Open a metric to see and manage its targets.

Open the Metrics list

Open Targets (which opens the Metrics list) from the Planning section of the navigation.

Create a metric

Create a New Metric and give it a name and type.

Add its targets

Open the metric and add Targets, each tied to a scenario.
